The submission of the further investigation report in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi has been postponed for the 21st time. A Dhaka court has set December 7 as the next date for submission of the report.

On Tuesday (November 3), the report was scheduled to be submitted before the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam in Dhaka. However, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), responsible for the further investigation, failed to submit the report within the stipulated time.

Following this, the court fixed December 7 for the next hearing and report submission.

Background of the Case

According to case records, Sharif Osman Bin Hadi was shot by assailants riding a motorcycle on Box Culvert Road in the capital's Paltan area on December 12 last year. He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Evercare Hospital.

As his condition deteriorated, he was flown to Singapore on December 15 for advanced medical treatment. He died there on December 18 while undergoing treatment.

On December 14, Abdullah Al Jaber, then member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Police Station. Following Hadi's death, the case was converted into a murder case.

CID Assigned for Further Investigation

On January 6, the Detective Branch (DB) of police submitted a charge sheet against 17 individuals after completing its initial investigation.

However, the complainant, Abdullah Al Jaber, expressed dissatisfaction with the charge sheet and filed a no-confidence petition before the court on January 15.

Subsequently, the court ordered further investigation into the case and assigned the responsibility to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Despite repeated deadlines, the CID has yet to submit its further investigation report. With the latest postponement on November 3, the submission deadline has now been pushed back for the 21st time.

The next significant date in the case is December 7, when the CID is expected to submit its further investigation report.

All eyes are now on December 7 to see whether the investigation agency can finally submit its report.
