Hasnat Abdullah has announced a satirical “Rehabilitation Donation Box” campaign targeting what he described as the alleged dependence of ruling-party activists on extortion.

In a statement, Hasnat said that after 17 years, a “public begging campaign” would be organised for what he referred to as “starving ruling-party activists.”

“Donate—your Tk 1 may help keep someone away from the path of extortion,” he said.

According to Hasnat, the donation box is intended to serve as a symbolic alternative to extortion. He called on people to contribute to the initiative and take part in what he described as the “national rehabilitation” of those allegedly involved in extortion.

The “Rehabilitation Donation Box” is scheduled to be opened at 4:00pm today at Bangla Motor in Dhaka.
