Global oil prices fell, but Bangladesh raised fuel prices by Tk20 per litre, according to Reuters.

Oil prices fell in the global market on Monday. At the same time, Bangladesh raised the prices of diesel, petrol, octane and kerosene by Tk 20 per litre.
According to Reuters, Brent crude oil fell 2.08% to $101.71 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell 2.14% to $98.15 a barrel.
Reuters reported that oil prices came under pressure as hopes for diplomatic progress in the Middle East increased and Saudi Arabia was expected to increase oil supplies. Saudi Arabia’s oil exports also rose to more than 4 million barrels per day in September, up from about 2.4 million barrels per day in August.
Meanwhile, new fuel prices came into effect in Bangladesh on Monday. According to Reuters, diesel now costs Tk135 per litre, up from Tk115. Petrol has increased from Tk140 to Tk160, while octane has increased from Tk145 to Tk165. Kerosene has also increased from Tk135 to Tk155 per litre.
Reuters said Bangladesh raised fuel prices because the Middle East conflict increased fuel and shipping costs. Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) also recorded losses of about Tk228.76 billion, or Tk22,876 crore, between March and August.
As a result, global oil prices have fallen, while fuel prices have increased in Bangladesh.
